At Hummingbird Cove, we know how hard it can be to get coverage for childcare providers who need time off for a vacation or a sick day.  What Hummingbird Cove ECEs On-Call aims to do is provide a service that helps eliminate the stress of finding a qualified and reliable sub last minute or in advance. We hire experienced workers ranging from RAs to ECEAs to ECEs and specializations to be able to assist in filling spaces when educators need much deserved time off.

Its really easy! One of your educators requests a time off or calls in sick and you contact us through our website or by phone if it is emergent. We can let you know if we have an educator available and send them to you. All of our subs will come with their ECE On-Call folder which will include their official certifications, resume, criminal record check, and references. We will send an invoice on Fridays to be paid via E-Transfer by the next Wednesday.

Hummingbird Cove is founded and operated by a couple of educators who know firsthand how tricky it can be for people in the childcare industry to get time off.  Ashley Pastor and Sarah McCutcheon met in 2024 while working at the same centre and started dreaming of a day where they could be their own boss and thus Hummingbird Cove was born. They plan in the future to open a centre of their own but in the meantime got to thinking about what the industry in Victoria needed the most in the present. The answer was easy, subs and lots of them! 

No! We are available to go to all types of childcare environments. We can go to licensed centres, LNRs, day nanny jobs, and even babysitting if we have available and willing staff.
